Meditation
I started meditating in 2003. During my first meditation I had a vision of what appeared to be the fall of Atlantis.
I was fascinated and intrigued! Suddenly there was meaning to the depth and visions of the inner world. Of course I didn’t fully understand it but knew something worth taking note of was occurring. Later, that same year, I got into out of body experiences, that is consciously leaving my body. It fascinated me beyond anything I had experienced. I was very much a novice but able to breathe in such a way that as an energy body, I would consciously leave my physical vessel and be able to experience and travel in other realms. It felt completely real, like I was in my physical body travelling, a real trip as they say, but without drugs and alcohol, simply through intent, focus and breath.
I’ve been meditating daily pretty much since then!

I stopped for a while here and there. I remember at one stage back in 2008 or so things were very ‘busy’. My headspace, life etc. I realised I never ever sat on my couch!
Always going from here to there, doing this and that. In that moment I also realised I’d stopped meditating…I smiled hearing myself say, ‘I don’t have the time.’
I knew at this stage, that the one thing that gives you more time in your day, beyond anything, is meditation. I immediately started meditating again and within days began to feel like I had more ease and time!
It’s always been that way for I. Meditation shifts your perception of reality for the better. I’ve used it to deal with so many challenges, to grow in self-love, confidence, peacefulness, compassion and clarity. To meet my ancestors, star family and guides. To heal myself, transform and connect with the universal life force.
I’ve been meditating at least twice a day, morning and night for over 10 years. Around 2010, I spent a large proportion of my days for about 18 months meditating. I had left New Zealand, returned to Ireland and was seeking to heal old patterns, upgrade myself and anchor more deeply into the now.
I have been teaching meditation on and off for about 8 years. It forms part of all my healing treatments and I have had the fortune of teaching, children, adults and workplaces.
August of 2020, I opened the Rise and Shine Club! An online live morning meditation, open to all. Click here for more!
It is my joy and delight to share meditation with you for I know first hand what a game changer it is.
Simply put, when you connect with the breath, you become a more finely tuned version of yourself.
Sounds simple, but that version of oneself that is more fine tuned, never stops becoming more and more clear and peaceful etc. It’s an amazing spiral of self-discovery, one that brings great satisfaction, happiness, health and success. What’s not to love!?
Meditation is scientifically and spiritually recognised as a way to move yourself into a higher vibe, simply put, that means a better life, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Like feeling relaxed, clear, happy, peaceful and productive? Me too!
Well then, by now you probably also know that meditation is a proven way to access this higher, calmer and more in tune level of existence. Enjoy more flow in your day and better quality sleep too.
The easiest way to anchor into the now is to observe the breath
- Observe 3 deep breaths in a row. Inhale – pause – exhale – pause – X 3.
- One must be strong, consistent, patient and practise without immediate need for result.
- But hey it’s a practise, so go easy and know that even 3 breaths is beneficial.
- You tend to notice the benefits after, not during, so let go of the need to see any difference from the practice, and rather look back on your day in the evening and see if you notice a difference.
Now is the time to meditate
We are going through a shift in consciousness on this planet and meditation is one way to find our flow. You’ve heard about ‘the now,’ ‘being in the flow,’ ‘the answers are within?’ Well meditation aligns you with all of this.
Look at any authentic successful person you admire, and I’ll bet you a good meal that they meditate!
Mantra Meditation: Not all meditation is silent

One of my very loved methods of meditation is mantra meditation. It revolves mostly for I, around the Hare Krishna Mantra.
“Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hara Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare.“
This according to the Bhagavad Gita, this is the mantra of mantras and purifies the heart.
Singing this mantra with a group is called kirtan. This has given me great healing, strength and happiness and thus I practise it regularly. Touching the heart of the Divine. It has been such a blessed part of my journey I will dedicate a proper blog to it soon, including the history behind it and my journey with it.
For now I practise this with friends and at the Krishna Temple in Abbey St Tuesday evenings, free entry, all welcome.

Listen to the Silence: Give it a try
- Focus upon the silence in between thoughts. This involves listening to the silence rather than the chatter, and breathing.
- Take a few deep breaths and relax the shoulders.
- For 12 breaths, close your eyes and breathe in and out of the silence.
- Give it a go right now. That is enough. Well done.
“The act of meditation is being spacious.“
Sogyal Rinpoche
Dive Deeper
Sit comfortably with your back straight and eyes closed.
Feel a smooth flow of air entering the nose and then leaving the nose for 12 breaths/ 3 minutes.
Focus on the ‘smooth’ feeling of the air flowing through the nostrils.
Ask your higher self, ‘What is my highest intention today?’
Maintain smooth breathing for another 12 breaths/ 3 mins and listen.
Pay attention to the ideas, words and visions that come.
You will see results straight away.
Following your meditation you will observe more peace in your day, this is one reason it is powerful, and for many, essential, to meditate first thing in the morning.
“When meditation is mastered, the mind is unwavering like the flame of a lamp in a windless place.“
The Bhagavad Gita
How it works
The simple practice of observing one’s breath provides amazing results. Smiling, crying, worrying, happiness, peacefulness are all natural human states.
Accept your feelings, and breathe.
As a feeling is felt, it moves through. What we resist persists.
Meditation opens the heart, raises your energy, magnifies your true essence and enables you to connect more deeply with others.
Through meditation you become familiar with the Inner silence. Once you have connected with this silence you can return to it with ease. Whatever you focus on in meditation will appear more during your day. What are you called to meditate upon?
- The now
- Peace
- Love
- Gratitude
- Acceptance
- Success
- Beauty
- Happiness
- ? You decide!
Through observing the breath, we stop being ‘stuck in’ the drama, and become a witness to it. From here, answers show up with ease.
